This week on The Gralien Report Podcast, we hear about news stories that include disappearing asteroids and white whales, as well as Japan’s tsunami ghosts, and a few listener emails. Then we spend the majority of hour one looking at mind blowing possibilities that may soon be afforded us in relation to our universe… do we need a program like SETI in order to find aliens in our midst, or could there be far stranger varieties of phenomenon we’ll soon experience and learn about through science?

Then during hour two… Bigfoot, wolf men (or maybe a “Moth-wolf”), trolls, reptilians, and a host of other strange presumed nonhuman entities are examined. How likely is it that creatures like this could exist, and is there any way to prove this with science? Maybe not… but does that mean we can rule out all such reports of high-strangeness? We’ll explore this, and other themes, on this week’s Gralien Report Podcast.

And below is a comprehensive list of show stories to accompany this week’s mind blowing…

  1. Micah, first of all I very much enjoy your program, and no matter what I will continue to listen. It is interesting, entertaining and informative. But PLEASE don’t run ads promoting Political contests, no matter the side they are on, Please.

  2. Ha ha, no worries Lannie, I have no intentions to place any political ads on The Gralien any time soon… and just for clarification’s sake, did you hear something that seemed to be a political ad at any point? (I ask because some of the shows are on YouTube, and I would be concerned if, for instance, ads might be added to some of those videos without my knowledge if, for instance, another user uploaded an “unauthorized” segment of audio on their account, and ads were featured). Let me know, and thanks for the feedback.

  3. OK, Let’s speculate based on a thought exercise. Civilizations in atomic nuclei is rather bold speculation starting from quarks as logic gates.
de Garis describes a principle of logic gates. Building a computer or a virtual reality platform of any kind from those gates will require a LOT of gates. Most nuclei do not have enough nucleons (where the quarks reside) to approach the computing power of a 8086. Not much room left in that nucleus for the hypercivilization.

de Garis gives his quarktronic gates as crisp arithmetic expressions. Everything we know of nucleonic and smaller particles tells us that they are not crisp; only in large conglomerations do they produce crisp, uniquely predictable results.

I will look deeper. Perhaps he does suggest a new kind of physics that can function as a substrate for reliable AI civilization. The material I have read so far seems to assume that physics will be invented instead of looking at what the currently known physics could indicate as a way forward.
