This week on The Gralien Report, Micah has just returned from Saskatchewan in time for hurricane warnings throughout the Southeast, and before turning around again and heading off to Wyoming, we take a look at what’s been happening in the news.
First up, we talk about the latest instance of mysterious radio bursts from outer space, along with looking at why the case for “radio bursts” in the search for ET is so problematic. We also look at the latest concerns over artificial intelligence, and why it poses a greater challenge to the world than terrorism according to one scientist. Elsewhere, dead cows found in Australia with udders, ears and tongues removed have some farmers frightened and confused… but what are we to make of some recent animal killings in Kentucky and Washington, where a “serial cat killer” appears to be on the loose?
Then later in the program, Micah recaps some of his recent adventures to Canada, which involved a truly odd story about a pair of strange, hippo-like creatures that were allegedly seen by a lake near the town of Lebret, Saskatchewan decades ago. In pursuit of historical records of this event, Micah and company made the trip to Lebret, a quaint and mysterious locale where an adventure through history ensued, complete with an ancient sanctuary, a wise and mysterious local man, and an archetypal “Mystic Mountain” the likes of which psychologist Carl Jung wrote about.
All of this occurred over the course of several days in Canada, where Micah recently lectured on the odd myths and history of “wild men” in history. A bit further west of where Micah visited, some of the world’s most famous legends of wild people–otherwise known as Sasquatch–are a constant feature of Northwestern Indigenous folklore. As we conclude, we feature a special segment about the legends of “Strange People of the Mountains” shared by the First Nations People in their rich traditions and folklore, as we ponder the possible reality underlying reports of Sasquatch.
