This week on The Gralien Report, Micah and Matt begin with a discussion of some of the most unique paleontological discoveries occurring today, before turning our attention to the possible discovery of a particle that shouldn’t exist, which some say may require further revisions of the standard model of physics. Also, have scientists managed to pinpoint a spiritual part of the human brain? We examine what this could mean for understanding the science behind spirituality, and even things like “paranormal” experiences.

Then in hour two, we are joined by our good friend Paul Kimball, co-star and producer of the Canadian television program Haunted. Between 2009 and 2010, Kimball and his best friend Holly Stevens, a former army medic and actress, starred on the program Ghost Cases on Canada’s Eastlink network. Together, Paul and Holly investigated some of the most frightening stories and locations in the Maritime Provinces. Then after several years of hiatus, Paul went on to work as a film director in Nova Scotia, winning a number of awards and writing a critically-acclaimed account of his experiences in the book The Other Side of Truth.

Seven years later, Paul and Holly reunited for Haunted, a new series in its second season that takes viewers deeper than ever before into the darkest and scariest corners of the Maritime Provinces. Over the course of our discussion with Paul, he tells us about a number of the unique experiences he has had while filming the program, and specifically, one of the most disturbing experiences he and Holly ever managed to capture together on camera. Haunted airs Tuesday nights at 9:30 pm on Eastlink TV, channels 10 and 610.
