This week on The Gralien Report, we celebrate the arrival of the Winter Solstice as we examine the significance this annual date held for people in the ancient world, as well as those who recognize it today. We also discuss new science that explores the science of auroras, and what use the results of new studies may have in warding off future disasters.

On the subject of disasters, a recent incident in Las Vegas has us examining what leads one to identify as being a “terrorist”, and what causes may lead to one becoming involved in terror acts. While the Las Vegas incident that led to vehicular injury–and at least one death–is not believed to have been an act of “terrorism” by the FBI’s definition, the actual psychology underlying the terrorist mindset is integral to the understanding of what leads to such tragedies, and the intention behind them.

Then shifting gears to the world of espionage and the unexplained, in hour two author Nick Redfern joins us to discuss the enduring mystery of the Men in Black. We begin with a look back at some of the more significant developments in the study of unidentified flying objects that took place in 2015, before shifting gears to discussion of the alleged Roswell UFO incident, and how the early years of the study of UFOs would influence the ongoing mythology surrounding alleged Men in Black encounters. Nick discusses the archetypal elements associated with the subject, as well as the possible real instances where representatives of various agencies may have utilized the MIB motif in hopes of playing off of the general paranoia and folklore associated with the UFO subject.

Nick’s latest book on the subject, Men in Black: Personal Stories and Eerie Adventures, is available for purchase here.
