This week on The Gralien Report, we begin in Fortean fashion with a discussion about Charles Fort, the late chronicler of all things unusual, and how his work has been carried on in more recent years by the likes of William R. Corliss, whose extensive catalogues on scientific anomalies may be the very best collection of data on unusual phenomenon in nature. Then, shifting gears toward things further south, we examine the strange relationship between folk beliefs about a “ghost ship” off the coast of Chile with modern reports of strange activity, and a secret island… is there any connection?

Then in the second hour, getting into the mood of Halloween we spend some time looking at whether the famous “Mad Gasser of Mattoon” had actually been a Fortean marauder of the Female kind, in a field otherwise dominated by those things catering to the masculine. Finally, we also feature a freely available edition of Gralien Enigmas for our non-subscribers, as a special treat for Halloween. This edition deals with the strange dreams of H.P. Lovecraft, and how they influenced his writing and the concepts behind it.
